Here are some of my suggested questions I would ask the vet:

-What kind of anesthesia is used? (I was told that the best was sevoflurane)
-How would the vet intervene if there was a problem during the procedure?
-Has he encountered any problems with the procedure with your kind of dog?

Personally, yes, I was very mental about my dog's dental procedure. I communicated my worries to the vet and his staff, and they did a stellar job, assuring me, and communicating with me during the process. They called me when they started the procedure (when they started to put Tatiana under), during the procedure to update on the progress (and I was able to give input), and at the end of the procedure when Tatiana revived. Thank God, she revived within minutes when the anesthesia was cut-off.

Incidentally, Tatiana was small -- about 3 lbs.

Yes, Tatiana's dental was pricey. But her vet was arguably the best vet in our area. When it comes to Tatiana's health, I was not looking for the cheapest price in town. I seeked the most capable vet I could afford. Also, we deliberately created a generous budget for this.
