First I wish you luck with that Dental. I don't know yet, how frequently cause I've never had to do a dental on any of my dogs at this point.

I really wish the vets would come up with a better and different way to do a dental. Why do "all" dogs have to go under? What about locals, what about a sedative? Especially with the wee ones.

Razz's mom is over 6 yrs old and has never had a dental! Razz hasn't either, but he is only 3yrs old. I brush his teeth wkly, and he gets the TD big bites from the vet, I add a few to his home cooking 2x daily, plus I add a water additive for the teeth - Susie's. Every six months his breeder deplaques the teeth. We simply wrap him tightly up in a towel, she has the dental instruments she needs to do the work. 15 minutes later we are all happy as a clam. This is done with no sedatives at all!

Now that I've seen it done; I've bought the appropriate instruments for my big dogs; as Magic had an eye tooth that developed a bit of plaque on it. It took we about 2 wks to remove it all. He is a tad big to hold on my lap wrapped in a towel. lol

The big dogs get a big bone wkly, plus the water additive, plus their teeth brushed wklly; and oh yes I do use the oral gel.

It's nice when vets and vet techs say Wow, look at those pearly whites!

BTW it is also a minor fault to show any dog with plaque on their teeth.
