I wrap my two in a large thick towel quick before they can shake- and kind of squeeze them out (gentle, of course!) then wrap in a smaller dry towel and hug and fuss over them. I put a thick towel on the floor and they finish up the dry themselves with a crazy rollover wiggle. (neither of them tangle so the rubbing is fine, no dryers as it is usually warm enough here)
If you have a very fine tooth comb you can clean up the face while it is still wet and soapy. Rinsing well is almost more important than wash! Ziva gets little bumps if the least soap is left behind (behind ears, armpits, base of tail...)
