First time worries with feeding raw.. I know this may seem silly but after researching the benefits of raw and seeing my baby suffer from allergies we decided to try a prepared raw salmon diet.
We ran out of the patties (left them out too long) and Sophie's stools were looking pretty good so we gave her a skinless chicken drumstick and a little bit of liver.
I watched her rip the meat off and I held it for her when she thought it would be more fun to wander around the house with it in her mouth, but then I heard the crunching and there she was chewing on just the bone. I know this she is supposed to eat the bone but after she got through half of it I took it away from her because I started to get worried.
Now my anxiety is bad on a normal day and even with all of the research I did about it being ok to eat the bones and normal to feel odd at first, I am still petrified that something is going to get stuck or hurt her. She is fine and even playing around and chewing on a beef ear.
I think I am just having first time worries. I have spent my entire life hearing that bones are bad for her and then being me, I just googled yorkies eating drumsticks and the stories were not the most reassuring. I took it away from her when I thought she may try to swallow it and I heard the crunching when she was eating it.
I am hoping someone can just reassure me that this is normal and she will most likely be fine.
I took a picture just before she got to the bone. For some reason, the drumstick looks really small, but I think it was the angle I took the picture. In actuality it was at least the length of her leg. |
