Personally, I would like to add another tip. Do you have an exercise pen (that's open on the top)? If yes, I suggest you set-up that exercise pen with the doggie bed INSIDE it. Have this set-up NEXT to your bedside (with the doggie bed inside ALIGNED with your pillow). I hope I make sense.

I have this set-up for Tatiana for bedtime. Because the exercise pen is open on top, she knows when we're all in bed. Her bed is next to ours (within her exercise pen). The best part is if she needs comforting, all I need to do is roll over in bed, reach down, and pet her. She immediately relaxes.

Also, I keep a potty tray inside the exercise pen. On occasion, she potties on the tray in the middle of the night.

Incidentally, Tatiana like this arrangement. She takes herself to bed (around 8:30p every night). When we go to bed, we simply close the exercise pen. Of course, when I get up in the morning, I open the exercise pen (oftentimes, she's still sleeping).
