None of my five dogs have ever need their anal glands done. Rubin is 9, Gracie 3, Abba & Ginny Joy both under 2yrs. Lily is a 2 1/2 yr old Lab. My Yorkie Noah (RIP) did need his done like once or twice a year. He lived to be 18, so I would not consider that a health problem, just a difference.
