Growing chin hair sometimes depends on the dogs coat type. Some coats break easier than others. For show exhibitors to grow a long beard on a show dog they usually put the coat in some kind of oil and they wrap the hair. They also sometimes put socks on the dogs back feet so the dogs won't scratch.
