I don't know if it is common or not, and this would not prevent someone from registering their dog with one of those alternate registries that don't care where the dog came from just to get 'papers' and then breed anyway. That would of course violate the agreement of my contract, but I can't control the choices made by them, though if I found out about it there would be a problem.
I insist on the limited registration because I feel very strongly that any pups I produce are on the planet because of my actions and they are therefore my responsibility as long as they live, whether with me or not. Consequently any pups THEY produce are also my responsibility and I am not comfortable abdicating that with a future generation.
