I think I may understand. You're saying, when you look at a directory, some of the titles are in bold and some are not?

Here's how someone smarter than me answered the same question earlier:

The bolding indicates a new thread/new posts that you have not viewed. When you post a thread, you have technically viewed your own thread, so it is not in bold.
