Sometimes it's just better to close it.
I'm not a tech, but a pre-vet. My vet knows what I can handle and I can talk to her whenever I need to. So when the call in made that the dog can stay home with me, it stays home with me. And I agree with you about the ER. The vet is going to be sleeping (if there is nothing critical there) unless there is a problem reported by a tech. Do what you think is best for your pups.
