You got some good advice and tips that will work. Just remember it is normal for them to cry, whine, bark, or fuss for about 5 days when they first have to sleep alone. I teach that crate training is important. There will be times your dog has to be in one. While traveling, over night stays at the Vet. If a disaster happens, like a flood, hurricane, fire etc.. Shelters that allow pets, require them to be crated. If they are trained as a puppy to think of their crate as a safe resting place, it will be much less stress for them. My Yorkies often nap in their crate (we rarely close the door, and only do so when it is for their safety.)
