She got shaved completely once, so since then her top knot has not been touched except a few trims on the scraggly parts that didn't fit in.
[When she was shaved she was fairly matted (a couple of especially busy weeks put her brushing time to a minimum, which has NOT happened again), and I told the guy to leave her face and especially top knot. Then he called me when he was half way through and said she would look weird with it left....so I timidly said I guess...when I went to get her I totally did NOT recognize her. So now if she goes somewhere I make sure they understand to NOT cut any of her top knot, and now I usually do all the grooming myself anyways. And she wasn't even THAT tangled, really just in her armpits and neck, so the shaving was not needed. It was the last time we went to that place.....] Now I feel the need to show her drastic timeline...
Before she had her hair cut off...this was actually quite a bit before, if I remember correctly this was in the spring and she got her hair cut in the fall. But it was like this except a good 5-6 months longer. can't find a closer picture right now.
And AFTER!! by bald I mean BALD! [And it was around halloween. which those pj's fit her when she had hair and then when she was shaved they wouldn't stay on at all]
And I will ALWAYS remember this time that I did her hair. It was the very first time that I could put her hair up after she had been shaved. And I had a full length wall sliding mirror door to my closet. Soon as I finished putting it up [which took lots of time since I was out of practice] she ran and looked at herself, ran back to me, ran back to the mirror and repeat. She was SOO excited and proud of herself.
Oh and speaking of the mirror, after she was shaved she spent a good hour that night freaked out and angry with no consoling what-so-ever helping about the dog in the mirror she did NOT recognize. I felt so bad for her.
I think I have the best version of puppy coat vs adult coat. I shaved off the black and it never came back
