There is so much to know about getting a purebred dog and a small one in particular. There are huge amounts of people trying to take advantage of people looking for little dogs. AKC papers mean nothing about the quality of the dog. Puppy mills offer AKC or CKC papers. Dishonest breeders can switch litter registration papers around so you have no idea who the real parents of the dog are. Price is not a sure indication of the quality of the dog either. There are scamers out there pricing dogs in the thousands of dollars and claiming they are selling you a "tea cup" Yorkie. Many times these puppies are sick and many times they end up to be larger than the average Yorkie. Stick around and read as much as you can here and contact a local Yorkie breed club in your area. A good pet quality puppy from a good breeder could cost from $800.00 to $1200.00. Find out as much as you can about the breeder. Most online ads are scams from puppy mills and back yard breeders. Pet store puppies come from puppy mills.
