I thoroughly agree. I was tempted into switching to a high rated food, even though Joey wasn't having any problems with Royal Canin. I did a slow switch and when he was half and half, I notice significant eye tearing and his beard was wet all the time. Switched back to RC and his eyes cleared up, being the scientist I am, I had to test it again and again the tearing came back with a vengeance. So we are happily back on Royal Canin, but every time I read one of these RC is garbage threads, I do worry about people who will needlessly switch their dog's food when there's no reason to. I mean if I was tempted others will be tempted. Sure if your dog is having trouble with a food do a switch, but if your dog is really doing well, switching might cause you more problems than you can imagine. By doing well, I mean no gas, no vomiting no diarrhea, hair thick and shiny, no flakey skin, good breath, plenty of energy and good weight. So I’m posting on these threads, not to get people to try RC, I just want to reassure those who are using it and are happy with it, that it a good solid choice, with plenty of science behind it to say that it’s safe. As many have said before, if it aint broke, don't fix it.
