I wonder if it is a pain issue. My Moka is a little bit like this. She has very sensitive hearing. If I drop something, she runs and hides, and some of the funniest little things makes her jump. But she gets over it very quickly without holding a grudge (Like if I drop something in the Kitchen she will quickly run and hide, but it doesn't make her afraid to retrun to the kitchen when the coast is clear). She is due for a check up and I am going to ask my vet to check her teeth/ears. I have a feeling something is going on in the teeth/ears. Might be something to think about. I just know that some noises are magnified when they have an inner ear issue.
