Default Allowing people to visit your home

A couple of years ago I was run through the mill on here for my stance on this but in this day and age, it has not changed. I rarely breed and I started in rescue so maybe this colors my way of doing things. When someone initially contacts me I spend a lot of time talking to them. If during several phone conversations, it appears that they may be a serious candidate for a dog from me, I arrange to do a home visit. I also check vet references. If the home visit goes well and I do agree to sell or place a dog, I will then allow them to come to my home. It is after all my home and the home of my dogs and family and I am not open to every Tom, Dick and Jane traipsing through and compromising my security. The YTCA would never require any member to do anything that they felt was unsafe for the member or the dogs. Everyone has to do what they believe to be the right thing.
