Some dogs are bothered by the amount of minerals in hard water. In that case it's best to use water that has been purified through distillation. Gerbers sells purified water for baby’s formula in a gallon jug. Some dogs only have a problem when the are teething, but from reading YT, it appears to have helped adult dogs as well.

Some dogs are said to have a "low grade systematic infection" and that's why Angel Eyes which contains an antibiotic " Tylan" works for them, but this isn't something for long term use. My foster had bad crusty eyes and just growing out his forehead hairs is making a big difference, he hardly ever has crusts. Joey got really bad brown teary eyes after a food switch once, so we switch back to our normal food and he was fine. In other words, it depends what’s causing the problem on what will work in clearing it up. This site has some good information.
