I tried my hand at making a dress similar to this except that I used the ties on the shoulders, they came down and crisscrossed across the chest and then Came up through a small slit in each side, wrapped and tied. No Velcro involved at all. Essentially the neck closure and the waist closure are all tied in together from the straps. And since they cross cross, there's no way Allie is getting out, and it's easier to adjust if she gains weight.
