Yes, they can have internal damage after a fall, and you should take them to the vet immediately. That's a big fall for a little dog and most kitchens have hard floors. Joey's breeder told me never to allow anyone to hold Joey who wasn't sitting down, she made me promise! Also, it's important to hold one of their paws when you hold them, this will keep them from leaping from your arms. I'm so sorry for your loss.
