I suggest you take him for a walk to help him with his transition. Let him get acquainted with the surroundings, dogs really love to spread their scent around their neighborhood, also a tired dog is a happy dog and a hungry dog! Make sure your BF doesn't EVER yell at him, it will take so long to make Rafa feel safe, if he is frightened of you BF.
