I agree, let the vet see to it. Nail injuries can be extremely painful and can easily become infected, and if it breaks off can bleed profusely. If it does break and bleed, grab some flour from the kitchen and pack it onto the nail and pinch with your thumb and forefinger till the bleeding stops. Gently and slowly remove your fingers from the nail... leave the flour on and keep a good eye on it on your way to the vet.
