Congratulations on your puppy.

I agree with those who are concerned about the puppy eating the litter.

Personally, I use a large bath towel (folded in thirds), and place it on a large plastic tray. The tray keeps the towel in place, and keeps the pee from seeping onto the floor. This is what my breeder had done, and my yorkie Tatiana was potty-trained with it. Of course, the bath towels are machine washable.

Incidentally, another added convenience with the towels is with traveling. When I was in the airport, and Tatiana was traveling with me, I would go into the women's bathroom stalls, and put down a towel for her. Tatiana would go potty on that. I didn't have to go outside, and go through security to come back in. Very, very convenient.
