If you don't have a reciept, you get store credit. At my shop, if you don't have a receipt, you don't get to return it. How do I know you got it from me?

Also at Macy's... one time I had the receipt. The girl said, oh you don't need the receipt, the bar code is right here! She did the transaction and tried to give me back store credit. I said, no I paid with cash, I want cash back. she said, no the register is telling me gift card. So I made her redo it with my original receipt, and guess what? I got cash back. I used to work for a department store, so I know how it works. Haven' been to Macy's in quite some years. Any department store for that matter.
Maybe it's because I have a Macy's card and always use it when I shop there but not a Target card, maybe that's why I always need to have the receipt. Usually if something is returnable and you do not have the receipt, you get back what the item is worth, so say you paid $20 2 weeks ago, return today without a receipt, and it's on sale for $15, they will offer $15 to return it.
