I bought from places that would sell to me without questions because I too didn't want restrictions. I didn't know wthat the big deal was either. Well, I bought a female that had grade 3 LP in both knees at 12wks. I was sent this puppy even though I send a checklist, an long letter, and a phone call to make sure she knew I wanted sound knees. I was clearly lied to. Well I was offered a replacement puppy that ended up being younger than what she told me. I lost that puppy due to hypoglycemia and my ignorace at the time. Oh but don't forget. I had to pay to ship the first puppy back. and then I had to pay more for the second puppy because it was 'nicer'. Dealign with that breeder alone I spent $3000 and ended up with no puppy. can you say OUCH!!..Ok..I didn't bad mouth the breeder because I knew what I was getting into replacements and all and hypo was not covered in the contract..I just moved on to anohter breeder and cut my losses. The next female I bought from another breeder had grade 1 and 2 LP this puppy was an import. I lost my mind and forgot to ask about LP..tehre was a language barrier which made things hard and the breeder was a shwo breeder..didn't think I had to even ask. Took her to my vet to be evaluated. found out the knees. Told the breeder..she offerer to exchange her but I had to pay for the return shipping which would have csot me an extra $500. on top of the $2500 I paid for her. Besides, I couldnt' send her back...too far of a flight by herself, she came with a friend. So again, I won't mention this breeder either. She kept her end of the bargin and offered to make the situation right. I prefered to spay her, have her teeth cleaned, and sell her as a pet for $1000. After my expereinces with LP I am so ANAL, it is my mission to produce Yorkies w/out LP in hope to soemoen freeing my lines of them. It's sick how frequent this defect is. So not fair..So when I say protect my lines that's what I'm referring too..I want to protect my sound lines or the sound lines I'm working to continue.
Aside from the money I lost from those mistakes. I had to deal with my son crying everytime I had to send one back and when the little one passed on. It's been a hard road to get to were I am and I've only traveled it for about 4 years. I can't imagine what the future holds. But by golly, I won't forget what i've been through thus far and I won't contribute to it either.
Dang! I had a 20oz cappichino..can you guys tell...lolol.. | Play nice, I love it!! BTW, thanks for your long explanation. Maybe all the Yorkie Talkers should get together and write a book. We'll all take one chapter on something we know very well (I'll write the chapter on dogs eating poop!!!) and we can sell it and make mega bucks. What do you think?
