I respectfully would rethink that decision to not see the vet. Whatever was there such as a latent infection could have temporarily been fought down by his immune system but can flare back much worse & even system wide anytime. If some foreign object is in his ear, he may be just stoically accommodating the feeling now, as dogs will often do when they can't stop pain or swelling. Dogs will often cry out in shock when initially injured but later when found hurt, they are quiet and often undemonstrative of obvious pain and discomfort. It's a protective measure canines frequently use. After all, it's only a vet appointment - it's not a big thing to just get little Ryder checked out by someone who can really answer all your questions. And it could save him a lot of suffering and you a lot of money if something really is wrong & you catch it early enough. However, if it is nothing, you can finally take a deep breath, knowing nothing worse is about to happen to your little one.
