I always recommend the YTCA site, they have a breeder referral. The YTCA is the mother club of the Yorkshire Terrier. Not just anyone can become a YTCA breeder, at least two other members have had to recommend them, and they have to have a good reputation. Most of us aren't planning on breeding and don't need a "show dog", but buying from a reputable breeder can not only give you a beautiful dog, it can also give you a healthy dog. Reputable breeders are more likely to do health testing and know their lines. Of course, there are some great breeders who don't belong to the club, but no matter who you pick, please visit the home to make sure that the breeding dogs are kept in manner in which you approve. Here are some Illinois breeders. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club You have to be persistent, email them and introduce yourself, and tell them you will be calling to learn more about their breeding program. Don’t ask too soon “How much are your dogs”, let the breeder get to know you and establish a relationship. Since they are not in the "business" of selling dogs, they are harder to convince that you will be a good Yorkie mom, but if you think you can offer an great home you should talk to one or more of these breeders.
