I couldn't get his nails through the pantyhose either and tried to think what to do.
I debated putting his jammies on every time I use it, but that would be a PITA so I happened to think, I had ordered 4 pairs of socks for Jada to wear when she is itchy and those suckers are huge. I cut the toe out of one of the socks and they are long enough that they cover all of the long hair on the legs(my babies are shaved on their bodies and bellies
It worked so well....except for Jada, she went wild when I put the sock on her foot I think I should have took Bogie into another room to do his nails, because she was sitting next to us watching....poor little thing probably thought I was killing her brother

here is a pic of Bogie with the sock on his foot before I cut the toe out...Attachment 367730
Great idea. I keep Tibbe's hair clipped shorter now so we don't have to worry as much about it but I still put a thin towel over him and take out only one leg at a time, just so I don't get toenail dust all over him and myself. I take him out on the back porch to file also so the dust doesn't fly all over the furniture. I sit on the back porch in the sun which is usually warm, put him on my lap and he pretty much relaxes in the sun as he knows the sessions will be short and he gets to be distracted by the smells & sounds of the outside & he gets a treat & hugs after. Still, if I get the nail filed too close & near the quick, he gets fidgety for the next couple of sessions so I keep those even shorter. Overall, it's so much less stressful than using the nailclipper. I am just a wuss with those.
