I don't see anything wrong with a college student getting a yorkie, just as long as you look down the road before getting one. There are just some things that should be thought about ahead of time and first and foremost is that you'll be home instead of out while leaving the yorkie home alone too much. Just being sure that a career won't take you away from the yorkie more hours than is fair to the yorkie after you are out of college and that you'll always be able to take the yorkie wherever you plan to live in the future. This is definitely a legitimate consideration, because we have seen a yorkie or two on here in the past where the owner's who are recently out of college were unable to keep their yorkies because of their long work schedules and they weren't home as much as they should be and they felt the yorkies would be better off with someone who was home more. It is definitely worthwhile to think about, because it's better to think about ahead of time and not risk breaking the heart of a little yorkie. And, yes, they do grieve. It isn't fair to not take these things into consideration and look fifteen years into the future as much as you can.
