Personally, I don't think the dogs care much what you call them as long as they're in time for dinner! I think calling them "beaver" in an area where beaver's are common would be a hoot...I can just see some of my 'old timer' relatives' faces if someone pointed to a dog and called it a "beaver"...lmao...they'd probably say something real sweet (meaning "Bless Your Little Heart") like, "waye-ill, now, it don' rightly look li' no beavah I evah saw..."
