I just purchased a stroller off ebay. It was nearly $60, but I wanted something that was big and sturdy enough for my two big boys (10 and 14 lbs). DH and I will now be able to take the boys a lot more places and will also be handy when taking them to the vet. The price you quoted is good.
As far as people talking--let them! I live in an extremely small rural town in the deep South, and somebody is always talking about somebody else. If all they talk about is your pushing dogs in a stroller, then you're good! If the word "spoiled" comes up-just smile and say that there is no such thing as spoiling a baby-human or dog.
