I had my male neutered at the age of 8 1/2. He was always very mellow the only regret about having it done is the weight gain. He put on so much weight (6lbs.) in the first year and a half, that I am fearful of the effect it is having on his tiny frame.
I would do some research on the topic and make an informed decision. Weigh the pros and cons, but by all means do what is best for your pup.
