This is one of the saddest stories I have ever read.

You breeders can tell me if this is true.

I read that occasionally dogs that give birth by C-section - don't bond as well or as quickly with their pups. With a normal birth, the mother is more aware of what's happening and usually starts licking and caring for her pups immediately. But with a C-section, she is asleep and is not as aware of the birth process. Then - she wakes up to find all these strange little creatures snuggled up to her. This whole ordeal is sometimes frightening and confusing for the little mother because she was asleep when the puppies were taken.

I wonder if this might not be what happened to this little mother.
