I got my boys at 9weeks old, they cried at night too. Since they were so little I did not let them sleep with me for safety sake. I put them in a crate, I put blankets and a ticking clock inside the crate with them. Then I covered the whole crate with a blanket to make it nice and warm and dark. Never heard a peep from them all night.

Your baby is awfully young though, too young to have been taken away from his/her mommy. I am not sure what will work to calm your baby down. Maybe a heating pad on low and a ticking clock to kind of imitate the sound of his mommy and liter mates heartbeats.
