Our white carpet 'cleaning guide' said to saturate, let soak, then blot with absorbent toweling weighted with a brick, etc. Did that with several products...nada. We struggled with it...spent plenty on useless products. The stuff that works has the enzymes that are needed for the digestion of the material, and that is what does the 'real' cleaning.
After the urine is out, a water extraction to remove the product wouldn't hurt I don't imagine. I don't remember all we did to remove the kitty marks from that expensive, thick, plush white carpet, but I do remember the furniture being stacked up and pushed around the room, and the carpet machine being a near-permanent fixture.
