I've never had a dog actually chew on a kong!
Maybe it's because I've always used them to stuff food in, they view a kong as a licking toy not a chewing toy. ZoE has destroyed other toys by chewing on them, but she's never chewed on her kong. I smear peanut butter in it, or put her breakfast kibble in it, & in the summer I put greek yogurt inside and freeze it for a cold treat. It entertains for for a while as she tries to lick the goodies out.
