In my opinion, animals can have mental disorders just like people do. I have been called to help retrain some Yorkies that need medication.
One poor little Yorkie suffered a extreme panic disorder. When she was on the right medication we could work on behavior modification.
My advice is have a Vet who works with behavior problems, see your Yorkie. There are many new medications that can 'take the edge off' Obsessive behavior. Best wishes.
