If you are sticking with the same carrier ( or purchasing a new phone from a carrier that carries phones compatible to yours) it is no problem. But why not just put the pics on your computer????
My Iphone required a hard reset last month and I had 3000 (yes three thousand) pics on it that were restored instantly thanks to the miracle of Icloud
