Do you have a neighbour you can look to for help? If you are both disabled - you will need more help than just for your dog.

Call your regular vet; plead for help; this is not the time to for pride at all.

Next : if you are not on Social Assistance or what-ever you call it in the States; make a phone call (borrow your neighbours phone) to start the ball rolling with Social Assistance. Maybe some of our members here; know the numb er in Maine you can call.

For your gal; If the panting is associated with Chronic Congestive HEart failure, the best you can do at the moment; beyond getting in touch with your vet;

Keep her chest elevated: you can hold her on your lap with her back against your and her head resting on your chest.
Keep her coolish:
Make sure she drinks and eats a very little 3 or more times a day.
