I'll call my vet first thing tomorrow and ask again for a referral. I know they aren't eager to offer them and would prefer to do the surgery themselves but I don't think they'll refuse. I asked for one just yesterday and that was 11 on a Saturday where they were closing at noon for a workshop so they haven't given me a runaround or anything. I was surprised by the receptionist saying she'd try to get me 'a number or card or something' but it was a receptionist and not a vet saying that. I'm going to ask for a referral and see what happens and if I need to, ask for one directly to the surgeon I'm considering. I think in my worry I've probably overstated my concerns about my vet. Please take some of my previous posts with a grain of 'freaked out and worried sick' salt lol. I feel a bit silly but I've now remembered that about 3 years ago or so, before my vet was performing the surgery and when Sugar was first diagnosed, we were discussing possible surgery then, and he was going to refer me to a surgeon just outside of Gainesville who was formerly associated with UF. So my guess is that's who he'll refer me to now.
Sugar is still sleeping- no pain, but wouldn't eat breakfast. I've still not given him any meds this morning. I'm just so eager to see a specialist and feel some relief that he's at least been properly diagnosed. Why do things always happen on weekends? C'mon Monday!!
