Thanks. You misunderstood - my breeding bitch is on her first heat (she's 10 months old) but I waited to get her for five years.
As for the vaccines, I think what I'm going to do is to give them one shot for parvo and one for distemper at 8 weeks and 9 weeks respectively. This way I know that they are protected when they go to a new home, but I minimize the risk of over-vaccination by not using combo shots and not giving rabies so young.
I'm still checking out the possibility of using nosodes and titer tests to limit the dogs' exposure to full strength vaccines, but I don't know enough about that yet to make a decision.
