Update Ok, I'm back!
It's been a while since I've been back and came to this thread by accident. You see, I'm part Yorkie too. My babies and I are "Tribe Yorkie". As I was searching on the net, I put the term "tribe yorkie" in the search and was directed right to this thread. LOL! It was found because I used the phrase prior in my original post. Hence I'm back.
Anyway, I do whole-heartedly disagree with the notion/suggestion that scolding or training "after the fact" is in effective. Not sure about your yorkies, but mine are highly intelligent. Sometimes around here we have to lip-sinc our words or whisper to say something. Then it gets worse... we have to spell what we are talking about and it does NOT take long and the jig is up... they know what we're talking about! I find repetition training to be the most effective method to train a dog; especially a yorkie. Baby boy finally figured it out and has learned to let me know when he wants out. He wines and stampers his feet near me and we go out immediately. As for the marking on the bed, I continued with my method of saying "No No", but did it a little softer in voice tone, remained firm however and then him smell where he marked. After many attempts he started to get it and the marking on the bed is almost non-existent. It was a while back now, but he last marked very lightly on a blue blanket that was on the bed. I barely smelled it... while trying to look too and I just "let it go" without reprimand.
He has marked, back then, in a few different places. When I found those other places, I did the same thing with scolding him and letting him know where I found the pee smell at. I believe it's all apart of being a male dog living with another male dog and he is more of an alpha, but rarely shows it. The other older male is submissive and not domineering... although he could smoke baby boy in a fight. LOL!
Baby boy also sits near the door when he wants out. One thing with me is I recognize each baby's attempt to let me know they want out and when I see it, I let them out instantly without delay. Baby girl, now 15, use to scratch my bedside. She is blind now so I let her out several times when I'm around. The older male(11yr+) will scratch my leg or body wherever I'm at. Baby boy will wine, stamper his feet and stare at me. LOL!
I want to thank you all for giving me your time in replying to my post helping me with suggestions on a remedy for my plight at the time. Baby boy is making me proud and as y'all know, yorkies are one of God's Blessing to us. For sure I'm grateful for that.
Thanks,
