My groomer insists that we trim that area up so that it stays nice and clean from eye boogers and his vision isn't impared. He equated it to walking around with a fan in front of your face all day every day if i were to leave it. and Brews face is REALLY easy to keep clean this way. warm cloth 2 times a week and he looks like a little prince
it seems like SUCH a hassle to have it bugging the pup and the owner for a year (or more)

The problem with shaving or cutting is that you have to do it regularly, and for many dogs this is once a week. Hair can grow quite a bit in 2 months. Even a tiny hair that is poking their eyes can cause irritation and eye drainage. My foster’s had pretty bad eye drainage until I started growing his hair out, and his eyes are so much better now. Some days he has no eye buggers at all! I think most of the people who have decided to grow it out, are very happy they did. If your dog has no eye drainage and his hair grows slowly, it sounds like shaving the hair might be a good option. I do think you have to be pretty good to shave it, I've seen some dog's whose groomers really overdo the shaving. My son's Maltese has so many allergies that shaving is the best option for him.
