I agree with x-rays & wanted to say that just because his coughing is worse does not mean it's a bad sign. He may not have been on the rite meds all along & now the batryl may be working & if this is the case he could cough more as the meds kill a bacteria the gunk will loosen up & has to come out so he may cough more. It's kind of like a human with pneumonia at least when I had pneumonia the week after I started on meds my coughing was much more often & more productive. One thing the vet can do , is do a culture of his mucus & this will tell if he's on the rite antibiotic or not.
