The info is in your brain, but when you don't think about it for weeks or months or even years, it's hard to access it.
That is why tests like that are fun. They clear the cobwebs.
I knew Russian history backward and forward, but I haven't thought about it deeply in a few years, so I have trouble jogging my memory. If I sat down and skimmed a book on it, I'm sure it would all come back.
