Default Middle of the night barking--HELP!!

Hi Everyone!

We are having a little trouble with our puppy Rudy and need a bit of advice!

We have two yorkies, Sophie who is 1.5 years and Rudy who is 6 months. Before we got Rudy, Sophie would sleep in her crate from about 10:00 p.m. until 7:30 a.m. She would even sleep through my husband getting ready and leaving for work.

Rudy is a whole different story. Since we got she barks at night, it didn't matter if her crate was in our room or the living room. So, we put her in a crate with Sophie thinking she just wanted a warm body to snuggle with. Nope, still barks!

When my husband gets up for work at4:50 a.m. he takes them both out (because Rudy couldn't go that long at first without a potty break. Although now she demonstrates that if she sleeps with us she can go until 6:30 without having to potty) and then bring them to bed with me, which I think is where we made a mistake (although we did this with sophie too at times and she never had a problem).

So, now Rudy will start to bark around 4:15 a.m. and not stop unless we get her and bring her in bed. I think she just wakes up and wants to be with us, but we don't want her sleeping in our bed and I don't want to have to get up at 4:00 a.m. every day for the rest of my life.

This morning my husband took them out but didn't bring the dogs to me and then put them in their crate again before he left. Rudy slept for about and hour again and then barked for about an hour straight until I got up. She doesn't have to go to the bathroom when she's barking, she just wants attention.

We're at our wits end, especially when she starts barking about 40 minutes before we have to get up. Sophie was never like this and still isn't, I feel bad that she gets woken up by Rudy too.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for getting this to stop?

Thank you!!
