The fabric x pens work well, but the good ones are hard to find. (I think that I posted about them before). How about a nice roomy crate? It wouldn't be a bad thing to go out for a couple of hours and crating her. She would be in a safe place, comfy, and would probably settle down and take a nap while you were gone.
