Congrats on your new baby.

Yes, potty training a new yorkie puppy can be a challenge. Please have patience, patience and more patience. I would definitely start off by not letting him have full run of too large of an area. You will need to watch him closely to see what kind of signs he puts out when he's ready to potty; once you figure these out, you can watch for them and either place him on the pad or take him outside-you could choose to either treat or give him lots of praise when he does go in the correct area. Never scold him for doing it anywhere else, just ignore it if he does.

In the begining, I would suggest taking him outside at least every hour and especially after he eats, wakes up from a nap or seems like he is looking for a spot.

But the main thing to remember, patience, patience and more patience. It will happen. Good luck.
