It is my understanding....and I admit I am not an authority on bones!....but I have read that it is cooked bones that are brittle and splinter, so if you give raw bones, they dont splinter. I do not give my babies bones, period! But I have done what Bailey did...give the rib bones after dinner, with a little meat left on, for just about 5 minutes, then take them up. And I DO give my little 3 week old babies cleaned rib bones to chew on....they do not have the jaw strength nor the teeth, to crack and splinter the bones, and they have a blast knawing on them....it helps with teething pain on their gums, I think.
