EXACTLY! Having him all the way in the back is inconvenient for you both; but much
SAFER. The whole purpose for the seat is to keep him safe while traveling. I would suggest keeping the tether short (so he cannot get out); but at a length where he can lie down. Take short, regular trips around town until he gets accustomed to the seating situation. My guess is he will be OK in no time
