I paid $250 for a sweet, friendly, and housebroken one year old re-home, and I thought that was a very fair price. After all, if I had gotten a free puppy, once I had paid for all of the first year vet care and neutering, I would have easily spent more than that.
The sad thing was when dh gave the cash to them -- the husband excitedly said that they "were going on a cruise in two weeks and that money was going to be spent in the casino!!"
I thought to myself "you fool!!!, in three weeks we will both be out $250, but I'll have this sweet boy and you'll have nothing!"
